Because no child should sleep on the floor
It’s cold tonight. Fall weather turned into winter for a few days, and while I’m sitting here under an electric blanket, I know many people are cold, some in my area. They may not have reliable heating, warm bedding, adequate shelter, or even a bed at all. They may have children who sleep on the floor, too.
Even with suffering, there is hope. There are people who want to love others by meeting needs of those in their communities. I watched that unfold recently through Two Or More’s fundraiser for beds, and I just want to thank everyone for their support.
Two Or More is a nonprofit connecting people of northeast Alabama with spiritual and physical resources.
In about a month’s time, donors gave generously and allowed Two Or More to purchase about 50 beds to have on hand for those in need. Isn’t that great?! That’s the kind of gift that changes lives, and I’m grateful to be a part of a ministry like this.
I played a game with my kids at church tonight called “Never Have I Ever,” and I couldn’t help but think of some of my “Never Have I Ever” blessings.
- Never have I ever been without a bed.
- Never have I ever gone to bed hungry.
- Never have I ever been without warm blankets.
- Never have I ever worried about having a home to go to.
I want you to think about your blessings tonight, and I challenge you to pray prayers of gratitude for them. I would also challenge you to find a way to help meet someone’s physical needs this season. Find an organization like Two Or More in your area, and see how you can help. You may want to donate time, money, goods, or something else. Whatever it is, though, I pray you’re blessed for it.
And for all those who gave toward our fundraiser for beds, I appreciate you more than you know. Thank you for keeping a child from sleeping on the floor. Thank you for showing love like that. God has a special place in His heart for people who need a little extra help, and I truly believe you made Him smile.
